Two Ukrainians likely killed in earthquake in Turkey, four injured - Ukraine's Foreign Ministry
As a result of the earthquake in Turkey, two Ukrainians are likely to have died, four are injured, diplomats have already found 38 citizens, and 19 more are not in touch
This was reported on Facebook by Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Nikolenko.
He noted that, according to the Turkish side, two Ukrainian citizens may have died as a result of the earthquake. The embassy is currently checking this information and taking measures to identify the victims.
"We also know about 4 injured Ukrainians. They sustained minor injuries, there are no threats to their lives, they do not need hospitalization. The victims are provided with temporary housing and food. In total, diplomats have already found 38 citizens and are cooperating with Turkish rescue services to find the other 19 Ukrainians who are not in touch," said Oleh Nikolenko.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also preparing to send Ukrainian consuls to Gaziantep. The embassy diplomats will be able to arrive in the disaster area as soon as the situation allows amid the declared state of emergency in Turkey.
"The consuls will coordinate on-site assistance to Ukrainian citizens, delivering warm clothes and basic necessities. On the way back, the embassy plans to take out those Ukrainians who express a desire to move to other regions of Turkey by their own vehicles," the diplomat added.
