Two Polish volunteers get injured near Bakhmut
On Tuesday, two Polish volunteers, wounded as a result of hostilities in the Bakhmut district, Donetsk region, were sent to Lublin clinical hospital.
Spokesman of the Polish Health Ministry Wojciech Andrusiewicz stated in a comment to PAP.
The wounded - a man and a woman - were engaged in the delivery of humanitarian aid in the front-line territories of Ukraine.
"They were unpacking aid for the population from a car when a mortar mine exploded nearby. Unfortunately, in the case of a female volunteer, everything ended with the amputation of the lower leg. The man suffered a bullet and shrapnel wound," the spokesperson Polish Ministry said.
On the Ukrainian side, Humanitarian Aid Foundation was responsible for the transportation and care of patients, Wojciech Andrusiewicz added.
Upon arrival in Poland, Minister of Health, Adam Niedzielski, also spoke with the wounded Poles.
