Russian airstrike on senior care house in Kursk region leaves woman dead
On the evening of January 11, Russian forces launched airstrikes on the town of Sudzha in Russia’s Kursk region. The shelling targeted a senior care home with civilians, resulting in the death of a woman
This was reported by Oleksii Dmytrashkivskyi, press officer for the Ukrainian military commandant's office in the Kursk region, during the United News telethon.
According to Dmytrashkivskyi, the woman was injured by shrapnel to her arm in one of the strikes and died on the morning of January 12. The explosions also shattered the windows and doors of the senior care house.
At the time of the attack, over 70 elderly people, many with disabilities, were inside.
“The question arose of where to move these people. All of them are elderly, many with disabilities, including Parkinson’s disease, stroke patients, and one person with a mental illness. Their condition at this time is quite serious,” Dmytrashkivskyi said.
He also noted that approximately 2,000 people live in the Ukrainian-controlled territory of Russia.
