Serbia's "knife in back" of Russia
Joe Biden's administration's latest blows to the Russian economy
As reported by all the world's media, the United States of America, followed by the United Kingdom, imposed unprecedented economic sanctions aimed at destroying the oil and energy sectors of the Russian industry. And so, Serbia has to stick a “knife in Russia's back."
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said that the United States and the EU insist on the complete withdrawal of Russian Gazprom's capital from the Serbian company NIS. Serbia has 45 days to fulfill this requirement, until February 25.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said that after the introduction of U.S. sanctions against Gazprom Neft on January 10, the Russian company should completely withdraw from the shareholders of the Serbian oil company NIS within 45 days. Reuters reports this with reference to the Serbian leader's statement.
Currently, Gazprom Neft holds 50% of NIS shares, with another 6.15% owned by Gazprom. The Serbian government controls 29.87% of the company, while the remaining shares are held by minor shareholders.
Croatian pipeline operator JANAF, through which NIS transports most of its crude oil, also announced that the sanctions will come into full effect in 45 days. During this period, measures will be implemented to adjust contracts and ensure the safe delivery of oil to Serbia.
