Trump explains how he would stop war in Ukraine within one day
Former US President Donald Trump said he could force Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to sign a peace deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin within 24 hours of returning to the White House
He said this in an interview with Fox News.
"I know Zelenskyy very well, and I know Putin very well, even better. And I had a good relationship, very good with both of them. I would tell Zelenskyy, no more. You got to make a deal," Trump said.
Instead, he would tell Putin “if you don't make a deal, we're going to give him a lot. We're going to [give Ukraine] more than they ever got if we have to."
The former US leader and current contender for the Republican presidential nomination said that if he returned to the White House, he could conclude a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine within 24 hours.
"I will have the deal done in one day. One day," Trump emphasized.
According to him, the current US President Joe Biden is not capable of dealing with world leaders, because "these people are sharp, tough and generally vicious."
Trump's comments on Ukraine:
On February 21, former US President Donald Trump made a promise that if he returned to office, he would stop Russia's war against Ukraine within a day.
In March, he stated that his return to the White House would help put an end to Russia's war against Ukraine and prevent a third world war.
On May 11, former US President Donald Trump called the attack on Ukraine a mistake by Putin but didn't label him a war criminal. He believed that such a designation could negatively impact negotiations with Russia.
He advocated for reducing the supply of weapons to Ukraine. He also expressed his belief that if he became the President of the USA in 2024, he would be able to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. However, the coordinator of the National Security Council of the White House, John Kirby, stated that Trump's comments about supporting Ukraine did not affect the policies of the US and its partner countries.
Additionally, the governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, who is considered a major Republican competitor to former President Donald Trump in the US elections, stated that he would not want to involve American troops in the Russian-Ukrainian war if he were to win.
On June 30, former US President Donald Trump suggested that Ukraine should give up part of its temporarily occupied territories to Russia while keeping what it has "earned" to bring an end to the war. In response, Mykhailo Podolyak, an advisor to the head of the President's Office, emphasized that Ukraine would not surrender its territories as it is a matter of self-respect.
