Polish farmers threaten to block Poland's eastern border if their demands aren't met
The Polish strikers say that the protest will be stopped, but they are not going to give up
Interfax reports the information.
One of the strike leaders, Roman Kondrov, said after a meeting with Polish Agriculture Minister Czesław Siekierski that the protests of Polish farmers could resume in December and would be much larger.
By November 26, farmers have to submit their demands to the Ministry of Agriculture, to which Siekierski promised to prepare a response by December 10. Farmers, in turn, expect the Polish government and Sejm to oppose the free trade agreement between the European Union and South America.
Roman Kondrov said that the protest will be stopped, but they are not going to give it up.
"If the agreements are not fulfilled, we will return, it will be a massive protest on the entire eastern border of Poland," Kondrov emphasized.
- On November 23, at 8:00 a.m., a protest action by Polish farmers began at the Medyka checkpoint, blocking the road leading to the border with Ukraine. According to the farmers, they are protesting for two reasons: the failure to fulfill the demand to keep the level of agricultural tax in 2024 at the level of 2023 and the signing of a free trade agreement by the European Union with the Southern American Economic Union. The protesters say that if their conditions are not met, they are ready to protest around the clock.
