Ukraine confirms strikes on key facilities in three Russian regions
On November 25, Russia reported a drone attack on an oil depot in Kaluga and the Khalino airfield in Kursk. The Ukrainian General Staff confirmed Ukraine's involvement in the strikes
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported the information.
"On the night of November 25, 2024, units of the Main Intelligence Directorate within Ukraine's Ministry of Defense, together with other components of the Defense Forces, attacked several key Russian targets, including in Bryansk, Kaluga, and Kursk regions of Russia," the statement says.
The General Staff also confirmed the successful strike on an oil depot in Kaluga region.
"The results of combat operations on other targets are being clarified. The successful joint combat operations of all components of the Ukrainian Defense Forces against important targets of the Russian invaders will continue," the General Staff added.
Earlier, Russian Ministry of Defense stated that Russia faced drone attacks.
"Last night, during an attempt by the Kyiv regime to carry out a terrorist attack using unmanned aerial vehicles on targets in the Russian Federation, air defense systems destroyed and intercepted 23 Ukrainian aircraft-type UAVs," the statement reads.
The ministry specified that eight UAVs were allegedly destroyed over the Kaluga region, seven over the Kursk region, five over the Bryansk region, and three over the Belgorod region.
According to the Telegram channel Baza, citing Kaluga region governor Vladislav Shapsha, debris from a drone caused a fire at an industrial facility in the city.
The Russian Telegram channel ASTRA reports that drones targeted the Kaluganefteprodukt oil depot and the Kaluga Typhoon Instrument-making Plant.
Sources in Ukrainian media, including Babel, Suspilne, and Ukrainska Pravda, have confirmed through law enforcement agencies that Ukrainian intelligence was involved in the attack.
The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, Andriy Kovalenko, also confirmed this information.
According to him, the Kaluga Typhoon is part of Russia's defense industry.
The Kaluga Typhoon factory is involved in:
- Development and production of radio-electronic equipment. The factory manufactures communication systems, radio-electronic reconnaissance, and radar equipment.
- Opto-electronic systems. The enterprise produces components for observation and targeting systems installed on military vehicles.
- Components for missile and aviation systems. The factory makes parts for air defense systems, aviation equipment, and missile complexes.
- Military vehicle modernization. Typhoon also services and upgrades equipment used by Russian forces.
- Supporting defense technologies. The factory produces electronic modules and specialized equipment needed to integrate various military systems.
Attack on airfield in Kursk region
According to Russian Telegram channels ASTRA, Meduza - LIVE, and Baza, 7 missiles and 12 UAVs attacked Kursk region overnight.
Russia claims that at least one missile hit the Khalino military airfield. There are reports of two people being injured.
Additionally, according to sources cited by these Telegram channels, the attack on Khalino was carried out using ATACMS missiles.
"7 ATACMS missiles and 12 UAVs attacked Kursk region overnight. As ASTRA discovered, the missiles were intercepted: near Kursk, Kurchatov, the village of Nikolaevka in Kurchatov district, the village of 2-a Mokva in Kursk district, the village of Alexeevka in Oktyabrsky district, and the village of Starkovo in Oktyabrsky district," writes ASTRA.
This information has not yet been officially confirmed by either the Ukrainian or Russian authorities.
