This war isn't for territory, but for values, principles, civilization - 128th Brigade fighter
Military Samuil comes from Kryvyi Rih, but has been living in Kyiv for many years. With Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he moved his family and friends to Zakarpattia, and he himself headed to the military commissariat.
This is stated on the Brigade's Facebook page, Espreso.West reports.
The Grenadier's assistant is a cultural expert by education, worked in journalism, and participated in the Revolution of Dignity. The man received two injuries on the Maidan - a burn on his hand and a hit in the head with a rubber bullet.
"I was scheduled to get married on February 24 in the afternoon, but the war started in the morning, so we didn't have time. We took our family and friends to Zakarpattia, where we have acquaintances, and then I went to the military commissariat and got into the 128th Brigade. The day before leaving for the zone of hostilities, my bride and I still got married. So Putin did not prevent our marriage. My wife is from the Donetsk region, she fled the war for the second time (the first time in 2014). And I was so scared that I made up my mind to end this horde once and for all!", the fighter said.
According to the soldier, in the first weeks in the brigade, he was taught to work with various weapons - Kalashnikov rifles, PK machine guns, and grenade launchers. He also mastered the skills of driving an infantry fighting vehicle.
"Once a group of Russians approached us - they approached a broken civilian car to steal honey from it. We drove them away with fire, and then we found a thrown Soviet flag - heavy and large with a fringe. I still wondered - why did they take such an unnecessary thing with them into battle? It's hard to understand the logic here..." - Samuil said.
He also told about another interesting case that happened during his service, when a neighboring unit, after shelling an enemy column, captured a Russian soldier and handed him over to the stormtroopers.
"This was a mobilized man from Makiivka - 30 years old, stuttered since childhood, thin, and wearing glasses with large diopters. He could hardly see without them. He said that he worked in a sausage shop, and when he was going home, he was taken off the minibus and mobilized in the army. He looked very miserable - in some unfortunate breeches, a "frog" uniform, with Soviet rubber harnesses instead of modern tourniquets. And in his body armor there was only one plate - in front. So he was equipped for war. It was clear that this was not a fighter, he did not pose any threat. We gave him food and cigarettes, behaved humanely, and there was no desire to hit or shoot him. I understand that this is the enemy, and I have seen what the Russians are doing to our villages - they leave scorched earth. But mocking a captive is savagery, barbarism", the soldier emphasized.
He also explained what this war means to him.
"For me, this is a war - not for territory, but for values and principles. The processes that began after the Maidan (not all of them, of course, I don't like some of them) are a movement towards democracy, towards human freedoms. And I like it. And Russia carries completely different values, the main one of which is slavery. Look at the same enslaved peoples who are fighting against us - Dagestanis, Buryats, and others. These are people who no longer remember their language and culture, they have a fake self-identity and say they are "Russian". I do not want this in my country, I want to preserve Ukrainian self-identity, free spirit, freedom, and human values. Therefore, this is a war with a wild horde for civilization..." - Samuil concluded.
