"They provoke instability": Zelenskyy calls for elimination of "gray zones" in Europe
On Tuesday, October 24, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called for the elimination of "gray zones" in Europe, as they provoke instability and claims to dominance among countries
He made the statement in a speech via video link to the European Commission board, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
"After all, if there is even the slightest ‘gray’ geopolitical zone, then claims to dominance in this zone will inevitably arise, and different political forces will try to paint such a ‘gray’ zone in their own political colors," the president said.
According to him, the EU is now a few geopolitical steps away from eliminating such a division.
"And this is our historic chance – for all of Europe – to eliminate that lack of geopolitical certainty, that source of crises and problems," Zelenskyy emphasized.
He also emphasized that the EU is conceived as a continental project and a guarantor of good neighborliness between the peoples of Europe, so it is gaining a well-deserved continental dimension.
"This is not a club for the elite, but a home truly for all Europeans who share common values. The borders of the European Union will be the borders of the continent of Europe. And there is no ‘gray zone!’ Our political generation is capable of ensuring this, and I am sure that we will not miss such a special moment," the President of Ukraine noted.
In his opinion, if Europe can get rid of "gray" geopolitical zones, it should do so.
"Europe needs the European Union. And let Ukrainian optimism towards the EU serve a more stable future for the whole of Europe!" Zelenskyy summarized.

Earlier, former US Ambassador to NATO and former Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker said that first, Ukraine needs to win its defense against Russia, and then the West needs to eliminate the "gray" zones that have proven to be a temptation for attack.
