There is nothing to discuss with aggressor country - Sandu on possible talks with Russia
Moldova`s President Maia Sandu said she does not plan to negotiate with Russia, as she "has nothing to discuss with the aggressor state"
She said this in an interview with Moldova 1 TV channel.
Sandu noted that Russia is now using its standard tools: threats and attempts to intimidate other countries.
"These are threats. Unfortunately, these are Russia's tools: threats, attempts to intimidate other countries. What we see in Ukraine in general is very serious," she said.
The Moldovan president added that her government wanted to build constructive relations with Russia, but the full-scale war in Ukraine and the "killing of neighbours" made these plans impossible.
"When we came to power, we stated that we wanted constructive relations with Russia. After this war started, what kind of relations can we have with the aggressor, with the state that kills its neighbours?" Sandu said.
Asked whether she plans to travel and meet with the Russian authorities, the president said she is not interested in this.
"I have nothing to discuss with the aggressor country," Sandu stressed.
On December 29, Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that her country should become a member of the European Union by the end of this decade.
