Sweden votes for the far right

The far-right party Sweden Democrats becomes the second political party in the country in terms of the number of mandates in the parliament. Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson, who represents the Social Democrats, has already announced her resignation from the post of head of government.

Currently, a coalition that counts on the support of the "Swedish Democrats" will form the government of Sweden. They have not yet been accepted into the government, but they count on the support during the vote for the new government.

In Stockholm, observers talk about a real electoral revolution. And it's not just that the far-right party, whose activists are known for their xenophobic and anti-semitic slogans and advocates a revision of the country's traditional migration policy, managed to become the second political force after the Social Democrats. And it’s the fact that previously no self-respecting Swedish political party was ready to cooperate with the far-right. And now the barrier has been destroyed because, without the support of the "Swedish Democrats", the right-wing centrists have no chance to form a government. It was the thirst for power that led to the biggest moral compromise in the country's political history.

And this is not only a Swedish phenomenon. In Italy, the far-right party "Brothers of Italy", which is confidently called post-fascist, is close to victory in the parliamentary elections. It is this party that leads the center-right coalition, which includes politicians known for their sympathy for Vladimir Putin. In Italy it will not be like in Sweden, here the leader of the "Brothers of Italy" George Maloney claims to be the head of the government, and not for the support of the center-right. This is good for Ukraine, because the "Brothers" are supporters of NATO and enemies of Putin. That is why George Maloney at the head of the government will be balanced by Berlusconi and Salvini, who will do everything possible to soften the sanctions against Russia and refuse military aid to Ukraine.

However, in most European countries, the far-right adheres to completely different political positions. For the most part, they are opponents of NATO and the European Union and ardent supporters of good relations with Moscow. If the other European countries repeat Swedish experiment, we will soon see terrible pictures. For example, it is not difficult for the right to come to power in Germany, if the taboo on cooperation with "Alternative for Germany" is abandoned. In Austria, the far-right Freedom Party, known for its good relations with the Kremlin, may once again return to the government. And in a few years, most of the governments of the European Union will be inclined to mutual understanding with Moscow not only for financial, but also for ideological reasons. That is why the effect of the Swedish elections for the future of Europe can be devastating.
