Slovakia will start negotiations to provide MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine
After Ukraine's official request, Slovakia may start negotiations with the European Commission on the terms of MiG-29 fighter jets delivery to the Ukrainian Armed Forces
This was reported by journalists of teraz.sk website with reference to the statement of the acting Slovakian Prime Minister Eduard Heger.
Slovakia will start negotiations on providing Ukraine with MiG-29 fighter jets at the domestic level, as well as with the European Commission and Ukraine.
Eduard Heger emphasized that the MiG-29s are decommissioned, and Slovakia cannot use them: "It is these decommissioned MiGs that can save innocent lives in Ukraine."
The prime minister emphasized that the European Union may reimburse Slovakia for the cost of combat aircraft: "Every aid we provide in this way is funded from the Instrument contributing to Stability and Peace (IcSP)”
In particular, he said that Slovakia may even change the constitution or adopt a particular law to help Ukraine. He informed that the government is negotiating with constitutional lawyers about the possibilities, since the current cabinet is only temporarily appointed and has limited powers
