Shoigu threatens "unpredictable level of escalation" due to supply of tanks to Ukraine

According to Shoigu, the United States and its allies, by their decision to provide Ukraine with offensive weapons, are allegedly openly calling on Kyiv to seize Russian territory.

"The US and its allies are trying to prolong the conflict as much as possible. To do this, they have started supplying heavy offensive weapons, openly calling on Ukraine to seize our territories. In fact, such steps involve NATO countries in the conflict and may lead to an unpredictable level of its escalation," Shoigu said.

• On January 25, it became known that Ukraine will receive 14 Leopard 2 tanks from Germany, which also allowed their re-export to other countries.

• On February 3, the Pentagon announced a new $2.2 billion package of defense aid to Ukraine.

• On February 4, Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov announced that German Leopard, British Challenger and American Abrams tanks will soon arrive in Ukraine in large numbers.
