Sandu reveals content of documents provided by Zelenskyy: Russia plans coup d'état in Moldova
Russia plans a coup d'état in Moldova through protests, military personnel and foreign citizen involvement
This was stated by the President of Moldova, Maya Sandu, on February 13 at a security press conference, NewsMaker reports.
"Russia plans sabotage using people with military training disguised as civilians: they are to commit violence, attack state buildings and to take hostages," she said.
According to her, the documents provided by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy serve as evidence.
"Documents received from our Ukrainian partners indicate the locations and logistics of the subversive activity organization. The plan also includes the involvement of foreigners. For example, there are instructions for citizens of Russia, Belarus, Serbia and Montenegro on the ways to enter Moldova,” Sandu said.
On February 9, at the European Council meeting, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he had given Sandu documents about Moscow's intentions towards Moldova.
"I spoke with the president of Moldova, Maya Sandu, and informed her about our recent intelligence findings: a detailed Russian plan for changing the political situation in Moldova. It is a Russian document indicating how they are going to overthrow the democratic government of Moldova and establish control over it," the President of Ukraine said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy added that it is not known whether Moscow gave the order to act according to this plan, but it is likely what Russia was going to do.
"In this plan we have recognized what they tried to do against Ukraine and against other countries, in particular in Europe," the President added.
