Sanctions pressure on Iran is effective - international expert Semyvolos
Ihor Semyvolos, director of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, believes that splits and disagreements within the Iranian ruling class are increasing due to sanctions pressure
He said this on Espreso TV.
“There is a sense that the increasing sanctions are putting effective pressure on Iran. However, this does not mean that Tehran has finally given up or will refuse to cooperate with Moscow. But it does indicate that there are more contradictions within the Iranian ruling class and disagreements. The position of the ruling group, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the clerical radical group led by Ali Khamenei (Supreme Leader of Iran - ed.) and Ebrahim Raisi (President of Iran - ed.) may be undermined. And this is to our advantage, because any disagreements inside Iran contribute to the future victory of the Iranian revolution, which will end that regime. Accordingly, cooperation between Iran and Russia will end,” the director of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies emphasized.
Ihor Semyvolos added that as long as this regime exists in Iran, efforts will continue to support such cooperation between Tehran and Moscow.
