Russia's reaction to failures in Ukraine is unpredictable, - Pentagon
The United States believe that Russia's reaction to its failures in the war in Ukraine cannot be predicted, and calls on American troops to be more vigilant.
"Voice of America" reports.
"The war is not going too well for Russia right now. That's why we all have an obligation to maintain a high level of readiness," said Mark Milley, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff.
His remarks became a reminder of the risk of escalation against the background of the successful counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Milli visited a military base in Poland, which helps Ukraine in military operations. During the trip, he inspected an air defense base that includes the Patriot missile system. It can be used for defense if the Russian Federation risks going to war with NATO and attacks the base.
According to Milley, American troops in Europe are not exposed to any increased threat, but they must be in a state of readiness.
"In war, you just don't know with a high degree of certainty what's going to happen next," he said.
Milley noted that the war was at a new stage and suggested that the situation could change in a matter of weeks or months.
"In this regard, we have to very carefully monitor Russia's reaction to this," he added.
