Russian subversive reconnaissance groups made 4 attempts to sneak across Ukrainian northern border in July
Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups tried to penetrate the Russian-Ukrainian border in the Chernihiv and Sumy regions four times in July
This was reported by the Commander of the Combined Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Serhiy Nayev.
“In July 2023, the Northern Operational-Strategic Group of Forces detected and stopped four attempts by enemy spy groups to enter Ukraine's territory,” the message said.
These events happened in the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, and the enemy tried to sneak in during the night. However, the Ukrainian border guards spotted them in time and fired back.
“To counter these threats, various units played an active role, including the Territorial Defense Forces, Special Operations Forces, mortar units, anti-sabotage reserves, and the Alfa Special Operations Center,” he added.
In the Northern direction, efforts are being made to enhance security. This includes improving the video surveillance system, placing controlled anti-personnel mines at potential border crossing points, and setting up obstacles in the form of mined forest debris to make it impassable.

Due to these infiltrations from Russia, Ukraine is taking further measures to strengthen its defense capabilities. They are installing non-explosive engineering barriers and additional surveillance cameras to bolster security.
