Russian shelling kills 2 elderly women in Ukraine’s Sumy region, 10 persons wounded
On July 17, the Russian army shelled Ukraine’s northern Sumy region with artillery, killing 2 people and injuring 10 more

"Today, from 12:35 pm to 12:39 pm, artillery shelling (3 explosions) was carried out in the area of Bilopillia. The shelling destroyed an administrative building. There are dead and wounded," the statement says.
Later, the regional military administration clarified that two elderly women, local residents Liudmyla Prykhodko and Nina Dedushko, were killed in the shelling. Also, 10 civilians were injured, including some seriously wounded.
"Doctors are fighting for their lives. I was in Bilopillia, talked to the local leadership, instructed all services to help people," said Volodymyr Artiukh, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, who arrived at the scene of the tragedy almost immediately after the shelling.
The mayor of Bilopillia, Yuriy Zarko, said on Espreso TV that among the wounded is a woman who was engaged in volunteering. She is in a very serious condition.

On July 10, the authorities of the Sumy region, in consultation with the military, decided to evacuate people from the border areas.
