Russian penal system has become tougher on Ukrainian citizens - Chubarov
The Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov says many Ukrainian political prisoners detained illegally in Russian prisons
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"Ukrainian political prisoners are in a very difficult situation. The Russian penitentiary system has become even tougher on the conditions of detention of Ukrainian citizens and Crimean political prisoners. The day before the death of Dzhemil Hafarov, and we consider his death a murder, he appealed to the prison administration with complaints about his health. His lawyer wrote letters demanding treatment. On the day of death, and we say murder of Dzhemil Hafarov, the lawyer received a response from the prison administration that Dzhemil Hafarov was doing well and was under medical control,” Chubarov emphasized.
The Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people also added that he has a list of sick political prisoners who are behind bars.
"Before the murder of Dzhemil Hafarov, Kostiantyn Shyring was also killed, he was accused of being a saboteur. We have a list of political prisoners, which indicates who is sick and behind bars. This list was provided to the Russian side a month ago, but they did nothing. We are worried about the fate of Amet Suleymanov, he has a heart condition. Oleksandr Sizikov is also awaiting sentencing. He is completely blind and Russia also accuses him of terrorism," Chubarov emphasized.
