Russian forces prepare for defense, street battles in occupied Zaporizhzhia region
Russian military is equipping the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant as a stronghold, and is preparing town of Enerhodar for street fighting
Serhiy Lyshenko, a deputy of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Council reported this on the air of Espreso TV.
He noted that the Russian troops are actively moving in the frontline area in Zaporizhzhia region, but there is no information about a counteroffensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"Enemy troops are actively moving in the frontline area, and counter-battery fighting between units is ongoing. The enemy is preparing for defense, not fully understanding the direction of the counteroffensive and trying to maintain its positions. However, there has been no information on the beginning of active hostilities on the part of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Zaporizhzhya sector," says Lyshenko.
In turn, the Russian forces have turned ZNPP into a stronghold that is being prepared for defence.
"ZNPP has been turned into a stronghold and a fortress, which they intend to hold, realising the impossibility of a full assault. It is already equipped to conduct defensive small arms battles. Four power units have been mined, and the enemy is placing ammunition there to defend it if necessary. Enerhodar itself is preparing for street battles, and fortifications are being built there," the MP added.
