Zelenskyy explains why Putin can't defend Russia’s Kursk region
Russian air defense systems primarily protect Putin’s residence, Moscow, and St. Petersburg, but not the regions near Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in an interview with Indian media.
Zelenskyy noted that Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin seems more focused on occupying Ukrainian territory than on defending his own.
“We know this well. After they attacked our energy infrastructure, we targeted their military airports. We are aware of where their air defenses are and where they are not. Everything is thoroughly assessed,” Zelenskyy explained.
Zelenskyy noted that air defense systems are concentrated around Putin’s residence, Moscow, and St. Petersburg, but are lacking in ordinary towns, including the Kursk region.
“There are troops in those areas, but their air defenses are not as strong as the ones protecting Putin’s home. It is clear that Putin cannot maintain this defense, and he should start feeling the impact of the war himself. He will feel it,” the president emphasized.
Zelenskyy also stated that if the world’s diplomats do not isolate Putin completely, he will continue his aggressive war and cause more suffering, including harming innocent children.
- On August 20, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi said that the Ukrainian military controls 1,263 square kilometers in the Kursk region, including 93 settlements.
