What's behind word 'peace'?

There’s a wave of hope for peace on the horizon, but it’s being fueled by Russian influence and people trapped in unrealistic thinking

In the current circumstances, the word “peace” hides some immediate and unavoidable consequences for Ukraine:

  • First, losing the sense of the war’s threat could lead to growing insecurity and internal political conflict among Ukrainians, reminiscent of the tensions we saw in 2016 and beyond.
  • With elections, the focus shifts to blaming each other for the full-scale war. On election day, people point fingers, placing blame on anyone but Russia. This toxic atmosphere weighs heavily on ordinary citizens, who may leave the polls filled with resentment not towards Russia, but towards one another.
  • Western arms supplies and financial support for Ukraine decrease sharply.
  • We’re left uncertain about how quickly we can restore infrastructure, revive industries, and carry out demining efforts. The war has already caused significant man-made and natural disasters, and there’s potential for more to come.
  • With substantial or complete demobilization of the military and borders opening up, we’re seeing a wave of emigration among young, able-bodied people. This leads to a rising proportion of pensioners in the population, along with many people who have been wounded. These changes create economic challenges and put an even heavier social burden on those who remain in the workforce.
  • At the same time, Russia is ramping up its information operations in our territory, with its agents calling for unrestricted freedom of speech. Medvedchuk’s media group resumes operations under different names, continuously spreading Russian propaganda to viewers.
  • The situation at the contact line remains tense, with daily provocations resulting in injuries and fatalities.
  • The military front feels abandoned by everyone and is unlikely to stay quiet or inactive. The current climate pushes for its political involvement.

These are not all the consequences of “just ending the war” in today’s circumstances.

Is there a simple solution? No, there isn’t. To avoid collapsing from within, we must fight until the enemy is defeated. For us to be safe, they must suffer. There’s no other way.

The collapse of the Evil Empire seems more realistic than it might initially appear.

Let’s stay united! We honor each and every one of you who isn’t tired and continues to bring us closer to victory. 

As our classic wrote: “Break this rock, for you are destined to break the rock.”
