Ukraine's partners forget that bombs and missiles which hit Kharkiv, could now fall on Baltic States - Defense Express
Defense Express military expert Ivan Kyrychevskyi noted that Russia sent two army corps to attack the Kharkiv region, which were supposed to threaten the Baltic states
He said this on the Espreso TV channel.
"The most likely scenario is that the Russians are unable to move forward and will try to gain a foothold in the captured positions in the Kharkiv region. The question is, how will events develop on the Sumy direction? Earlier, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine said that if the Russians get stuck in the Kharkiv sector and see that they have no prospects for success there, they will be able to shift their efforts to the Sumy sector to try to constrain the efforts of our troops in that area.
But it is equally likely that the Russians may try to increase their presence in the occupied territories of Kharkiv region to try to constrain the Ukrainian Defense Forces there as well. So it is difficult to predict anything at this point. What we can say is that the Russians were stopped despite the fact that they had amassed a large enough grouping to attack," Kyrychevskyi explained.
According to the military expert, there is an important military-political point in the situation in Kharkiv region that lies on the surface, but it is not explicitly stated.
"The Russians have sent two army corps from the so-called Leningrad Military District to the offensive, which are supposed to threaten the Baltic states. That is, the Kremlin got stuck in a traditional story, on the way to Narva or Tallinn "in three days", which was their plan for this year, they got stuck near Vovchansk.
In other words, European countries are still not concerned about what is happening in Ukraine at a time when the bombs, shells and missiles that are now flying at Vovchansk and Kharkiv could very likely fall on the Baltic states. Until we remind our Western partners of this, it is obvious that they will not understand it themselves," Kyrychevskyi stressed.
- Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said that the Russian forces were completely stuck in street fighting in Vovchansk, Kharkiv region.
- On May 23, a series of explosions occurred in Kharkiv and the region. As a result, 7 people were killed and the number of injured increased to more than 30. In the afternoon, Russians launched two attacks with glide bombs on the regional centre and Derhachi.
