Zelenskyy calls on Western allies to honor promises on weapons supplies to Ukraine

The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on allies on Sunday, January 12, to honor all promises to supply Ukraine with weapons, including those to counter Russian air attacks.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that over the past week, Russian troops had poured hundreds of strikes on Ukraine, nearly 700 aerial bombs, and over 600 war drones.
Ukrainian air defenses downed 60 out of 94 drones launched by Russia overnight, the air force said on January 12. The air force reported the loss of 34 drones, referring to Ukraine's use of electronic warfare to jam and redirect Russian UAVs.
"Every week, the Russian war continues only because the Russian army retains its ability to terrorize Ukraine and exploit its superiority in the sky," Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on the Telegram messaging app.
Ukraine's president called on Ukraine's allies in the West to fulfill the agreements on weapons supplies.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated, "We still haven't fully implemented the decisions made at the NATO summit in Washington and those adopted during the Ramstein meetings regarding air defenses for Ukraine."
Ukraine's president this week stated he had discussed with Western partners and the United States the possibility of granting Ukraine licenses to produce air defense systems and missiles.
