Poland rules out boots on the ground in Ukraine
Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz has dismissed the idea of deploying Polish troops to Ukraine to aid the fight against occupying Russian forces
He shared this stance in an interview with the Financial Times.
Polish Defense Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized that Poland is ready to take part in peace plan discussions when they emerge. However, he believes border states shouldn't be the ones sending troops into Ukraine. According to him, there should be greater "burden sharing and diversification within NATO".
"Of course, there’s fatigue in Polish society, which is understandable — especially when people here see young Ukrainian men driving the latest cars or staying in five-star hotels," he stated.
Kosiniak-Kamysz added that he understands Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whose role is to consistently demand more support.
"But Zelenskyy and Ukraine should also remember that when others sent only helmets, Poland sent tanks," the minister concluded.
