Paperwork delays Lithuanian drone deliveries to Ukraine
Lithuanian drones for Ukraine, which were supposed to be delivered by the end of 2024, are still in storage in Lithuania, allegedly due to bureaucracy
Babel reported the information, citing LRT.
Lithuanian drone manufacturers say they delivered drones back in October–November but have yet to receive confirmation that they reached Ukraine.
"The bureaucracy works like this: there are warehouses, the Defense Resources Agency must formally transfer the drones to the army, the government must decide to hand them over to Ukraine, and then they need to be transported to Ukraine," said Laurynas Kasčiūnas, head of the Lithuanian Seimas Committee on National Security and Defense.
Lithuania says the drones will soon arrive in Ukraine, and the supply chain has already been streamlined — the Lithuanian government approved a corresponding resolution.
"The resolution stipulates that if state property is purchased for another country using government-allocated funds, the issue does not need to be discussed again," the ministry stated.
