Vovchansk streets remain battleground: Ukrainian official on situation in Kharkiv region
Bohdan Tkachuk, a deputy of the Kharkiv District Council, discussed the situation in Vovchansk and Lukiantsi
He spoke about this on Espreso TV.
“Fierce fighting continues, with attacks carried out in small groups. The Russians are attempting to advance. Just a few days ago, they launched an assault on Lyptsi using tanks and armored vehicles. Ukrainian forces, specifically the Khartia unit, successfully repelled the attack, destroying or damaging several pieces of equipment. The fighting has continued in small group attacks since then,” he said.
Tkachuk also mentioned that battles in Vovchansk are focused on controlling the remaining parts of the streets.
"With sometimes fewer than 5 people in a unit, Russians are trying to get through, find gaps, attack, suffer losses, and then retreat. As for Ukrainian actions, there is a counterattack, and constant battles are ongoing for control of the remnants of the streets in Vovchansk. Everything there is destroyed, and it’s not accurate to say we’ve regained a large territory. The situation is quite static right now: attacks - retreat, attacks - counterattacks. The front line has remained stabilized at these positions for about a month,” he added.
- The Russian military has been blocked by the Ukrainian army at the aggregate plant near Vovchansk for several months.
