Ukrainian FPV drones destroy pontoon crossing in Russia's Kursk region
Ukrainian troops are effectively destroying Russian pontoon bridges over the Seim River in the Glushkovsky district of Russia's Kursk region
According to Defense Express, volunteer Serhii Sternenko stated that the strike was executed by a unit from the Requiem group within the Special Operations Forces.
The footage shows that the initial target was a PP-91M (PP-2005) vehicle, a type that has been in service with the Russian army since 2008. These vehicles are responsible not only for transporting the pontoons, but also for launching them into the water.
Subsequent footage captures a strike on what appears to be an EOV-3521 engineering vehicle, essentially a military excavator. The video also shows several pontoons already in the water. Lastly, satellite images of the Seim River reveal the destruction of the Russian pontoon crossings.
The destruction of these crossings is crucial, as they are presently the Russian army's only means of transporting vehicles and armored units to the southern bank of the Seim River in the Glushkovsky district. This is due to the fact that the three primary bridges in the area were previously destroyed by successive Ukrainian Armed Forces strikes.
As a result, the Ukrainian Armed Forces' strikes, particularly those involving FPV drones, on Russian pontoon crossings effectively isolate the Russian forces, trapping them between the river and Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
