Ukrainian army enters Korenevo district center in Russia's Kursk region - journalist Tsaplienko

"Our troops have taken Korenevo in the Kursk region. This was reported by the soldiers. Although it has not been officially confirmed," Tsaplienko said.

The fighting for Korenevo has been going on since August 12.

What is known about Korenevo
If the reports of Korenevo's transfer to the Ukrainian army are confirmed, it will be the second district center in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation under the control of the Ukrainian Defence Forces after Sudzha.
Korenevo is a railway workers' village on the banks of the Seim River.
The population is over 5,500 people.
Korenevo is connected by road and rail to the city of Rylsk.
In 1918, the Hetman's army, together with German allies, drove the Bolsheviks out of the village and it became part of Pavlo Skoropadskyi's Ukrainian state.
