Ukraine strikes two Russian self-propelled artillery systems with drones
Ukrainian defense forces have destroyed two Russian 203-mm Pion self-propelled artillery systems in the Donetsk region
As reported by Defense Express, the 100th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shared a video showing their unmanned systems battalion hitting two Russian 203-mm self-propelled artillery systems, the 2S7 Pion, with drone strikes. Aerial reconnaissance support came from the National Police’s joint assault brigade, Liut (Rage).
The brigade noted that the vehicles were destroyed using precise sniper drops from a bomber drone. The video shows the Russian artillery systems catching fire.
Ukrainian servicemen targeted these vehicles near the temporarily occupied city of Horlivka, about 20-25 km from the front line.
The 203-mm Pion artillery systems are rare targets for Ukraine, making the destruction of these two units a notable success for their intelligence and drone operators.
Since February 2022, the Oryx portal has documented the loss of 29 Russian 2S7(M) Pion/Malka artillery systems, with 25 destroyed, four damaged, and one captured.
