On August 24, at the Independence Day celebrations, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the deployment of new Ukrainian weapons

The head of state made the statement on St. Sophia Square in Kyiv, which was broadcast by his press service.

“We did not invade Russia. It is from there that they are bringing ruins here and trying to impose slavery on us. Ukrainians are retaliating to this quite fairly, responding with their own strength and together with our partners - honestly, consistently, precisely and more and more efficiently every day,” Zelenskyy said.

“It was today that the first successful combat use of our new weapon — a completely new class of weapon, the Ukrainian drone missile Palianytsia - took place,” the Ukrainian president emphasized.

“This is our new method of retaliation against the aggressor. The enemy was struck,” he added and thanked ‘everyone who made it possible.’

“To all the developers, manufacturers, and our soldiers,” Zelenskyy said.

At the same time, the president said that “it will be very difficult for Russia to even pronounce what exactly hit, difficult to counteract, and still very easy to understand why.”

Details about the target in the Russian Federation are currently awaited.

A response to “every spot of the Russian Federation”

In a pre-recorded holiday address that appeared on the president's website in the morning, Zelenskyy also emphasized the expansion of technical capabilities for retaliatory strikes against Russia.

“Our enemy will know what Ukrainian retaliation is. Dignified, symmetrical, long-range. They will know that every spot in the Russian Federation that is a source of danger to the lives of our state and our people will sooner or later receive a Ukrainian response,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.

  • At the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, Ukraine's defenders asked suspicious people to say the word “palianytsia” (flatbread - ed.) In this way, a kind of verification of a person's origin was carried out.
