South Korea estimates amount of ammo sent by DPRK to Russia in 6,700 containers
South Korean Defense Minister Shin Won-sik said that Russia had received about 6,700 containers from the North Korea, enough to hold about 3 million artillery shells
This was reported by Yonhap.
The head of the South Korean defence ministry noted that North Korea continues to supply artillery ammunition to Russia, so the DPRK's factories are operating at full capacity.
"While North Korea's arms factories operate at 30 percent capacity due to shortages of raw materials and power, certain factories are operating at full capacity, which primarily produce weapons and shells for Russia," Shin said.
According to him, after the agreements in September, the DPRK sent Russia about 6,700 containers that can hold about 3 million 152 mm artillery shells or 500,000 122 mm shells.
In return, Russia supplies North Korea with food and other essentials, raw materials and spare parts used in the production of weapons.
"It seems that food accounts for the largest proportion (of shipments from Russia), which is believed to have stabilized food prices in North Korea, with other necessities also included," the minister added.
- On February 14, it was reported that the EU was proposing sanctions against North Korea for supplying missiles to Russia.
