Serpukhov missile ship damaged after fire in Russia's Kaliningrad region
On April 7, the Serpukhov missile ship was disabled by fire on the territory of the Russian naval base in Baltiysk, Kaliningrad region
This is reported by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.
The intelligence officers noted that the Serpukhov is a Russian vessel of the 21631 Buyan-M project, which Russia launched in 2015.
"The fire inside the missile ship completely destroyed its communication and automation equipment," the intelligence wrote.
Intelligence officers also note that restoring the ship's combat capability will take a long time.
Ukrainian intelligence showed footage of the damaged Serpukhov and added the caption: "The roar knows no bounds. To be continued!”
According to Newsweek, the Serpukhov launched Kalibr missile strikes against Islamist militants in Syria from the Mediterranean Sea in 2016, before being deployed to the Baltic Sea area later that year.
In September 2023 the Russian state media reported that the Serpukhov performed a successful launch of a cruise Kalibr missile in the White Sea, successfully hitting a "coastal target."
- On April 2, explosions were heard in the temporarily occupied Sevastopol, leaving some residents without electricity. Later it became known that this was the result of a power substation being blown up by Ukrainian intelligence officers.
