Russian army tries to seize Vovchansk, Ukrainian troops fight back - 92nd Brigade
Oles Maliarevych, deputy commander of the 92nd Brigade's Achilles Battalion, says that restrictions on the use of US weapons don't stop Ukrainian soldiers from effectively fighting in Vovchansk
He said this on Espreso TV.
“We can say that the situation has already stabilized, with fighting going on 24/7. The main problem is that we are very close to the state border and cannot use American weapons on the territory of the Russian Federation. Therefore, they can retreat, regroup, accumulate forces, and reinforce their units again, while we cannot hit them remotely with American weapons. We can only use FPV drones or some Ukrainian technology. The Russians are trying to capture the city of Vovchansk, to gain a foothold in the areas where there are houses, because they have more manpower where there are houses and it is very difficult to fight them. That is why our task is to drive them back to the fields where they can be hit by our artillery and other means,” said the deputy commander of the Achilles battalion.
Maliarevych told about a joint operation with the Special Forces when the 92nd Brigade used drones to attack a building occupied by the Russians in Vovchansk.
“There were five or six people there, they took up a circular defense, and if they had been stormed with manpower, our guys could have been killed. So, because we have clear online communication between all the forces and means in this area, we cooperated - we and the Special Forces infantry assault troops. We were tasked with knocking the Russians out with drones, we did it, they were killed and two surrendered, realizing that there were enough drones to take them out. We are trying to work more delicately to keep the house and take prisoners, because we need them to bring back our guys,” the military said.
