Russia is trying to seize settlements in four directions affecting Ukrainian defense stability - Syryskyi
The Russian army on the directions of Kupyansk, Pokrovsk, Kurakhove, and Vremivka attempts to gain control over key areas or settlements crucial for Ukrainian defense stability
Oleksandr Syrskyi, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, reported the information.
He emphasized that the nature of Russian actions has not changed significantly. It is focusing its main efforts on the Pokrovsk direction: the vast majority of its strike brigades and regiments are located there.
"The enemy is well aware that as a result of the gradual arrival of a significant amount of weapons and military equipment from our partners, the arrival of the first F-16s, which will strengthen our air defense, time will play in our favor, and his chances of success will decrease," emphasizes Syrskyi.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief emphasized that the Russian military command is making every effort to expand the geography of combat operations in order to exhaust Ukrainian troops, disrupt reserve training, and prevent the Ukrainian Armed Forces from launching active offensive operations.
"Recently, a Ukrainian soldier with one of the Ukrainian combat brigades captured four Russian occupiers on his own in the Donetsk region. I believe that this act is a vivid example of the bravery and high morale of Ukrainian defenders and certainly deserves to be recognized with an appropriate award," added Syrskyi.
- On June 6, Syrskyi spoke about the strategy for the development of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' branches and individual services until 2035, which envisages the reduction of the General Staff units and the formation of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces.
