Putin must be stopped by any means to prevent new World War and invasion of Europe – Zelenskyy
On Sunday, June 16, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned Western countries against fatigue, as Putin's next step after his victory over Ukraine could be a war in Europe
He said this during a press conference following the second day of the Global Peace Summit.
Regarding the question of Western countries' fatigue with the war in Ukraine, Zelenskyy said that Ukrainians cannot afford to get tired because it is a matter of survival for them.
"Nazi Putin came to destroy us. He has this idea, a fixed idea. If a man with a knife and an assault rifle came into your apartment, what would you do? Give him a drink? Dance with him? Entertain him? Or will you defend your children? Your first reaction? This is our reaction," the President explained.
He expressed gratitude to Ukraine's allies for their assistance, emphasizing that this is not the kind of assistance that one can get tired of, because "this is not the price for democratic life in Europe."
"I am not jealous. I just want to tell you that Putin will not stay and end the war in Ukraine. Believe me, it will be like before World War II... He will go on, and then no one will think about fatigue. Everyone in Europe will be thinking about survival and migration," Zelenskyy said.
According to him, this is why there is an urgent need to stop the Russian leader now. He added that Ukraine proposes to do this peacefully and diplomatically, despite all the damage that Russia has done to the Ukrainian population.
"They came in..... They raped women and children. They stole 20,000 children. Imagine that! Someone recently said, ‘Yes, it's like David and Goliath, we just have to come to an understanding somehow.’ And just forget 20,000 children? And I'm giving you an example of just children. It's the same with adults," Zelenskyy explained.
He explained that it is very important that the world does not get tired, because those people whose children were abducted will not listen to what they should do from people whose children are nearby.
