Poles aren't concerned about Pokrovsk, focused on jobs - former Polish Ambassador Cichotski
Polish Ambassador to Ukraine (2019-2023) Bartosz Cichotski states that Polish voters are primarily concerned with domestic economic issues rather than the war in Ukraine
He spoke about this on Espreso TV.
“I agree that in Polish-Ukrainian relations, politicians are now making non-diplomatic statements. However, these statements respond to what people are concerned about. We are talking about voters in Poland. You can be offended by this, but Poles are no longer concerned about what is happening in Pokrovsk and on the front line in Ukraine in general. What is happening in Poland on a smaller scale is the same as what is happening in the United States, Germany, and France. In particular, jobs. Jobs are decreasing, inflation is rising, there is emigration, lack of money, and a general sense of internal insecurity,” explained Cichotski.
The diplomat emphasized that Kyiv and Warsaw should work together on effective bilateral cooperation. He noted that confrontation between Ukraine and Poland would definitely not be beneficial for both sides.
“That is why we hear such statements from Polish politicians. They say what their voters are interested in. Polish politicians are trying to respond to the dissatisfaction of farmers, people involved in logistics, etc. However, I think we should try not to provoke each other. Because if someone thinks that 2024 is a continuation of 2022 and that they can demand more tanks and weapons through a YouTube video, then those days are over. And you can be offended by this, but you can continue to work to fix it. Because if Poland and Ukraine keep holding grudges against each other, it will be of no use to either Kyiv or Warsaw,” he added.
