54 clashes occur at frontline on Feb. 22: Russian forces attack in 10 sectors

Since the start of February 22, 54 clashes have occurred on the Russian-Ukrainian front. Russian forces are focusing their attacks on Ukrainian positions in the Pokrovsk sector

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff stated this in its report as of 4:00 p.m. on February 22.

Russian troops continue to storm the positions of Ukrainian defenders. Ukraine's defense forces are thwarting Russia’s plans, inflicting significant losses in personnel and equipment. A total of 54 combat clashes occurred since the beginning of the day.

Ukrainian border settlements, in particular Yanzhulivka and Mykolaivka in the Chernihiv region, are suffering from shelling from the territory of the Russian Federation.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv sector, the Russians launched four attacks near Vovchansk, Fyholivka, and Zapadne. Currently, one clash is ongoing.

In the Kupiansk sector, Russian forces attempted to advance near Zahryzove but were repelled.

In the Lyman sector, the Russian invading army attacked three times near Ivanivka, Yampolivka, and the Serebryanskyi Forest. Ukrainian defenders repelled the attacks.

In the Siversk sector, the Ukrainian defense forces repelled three assaults near Bilohorivka. 

In the Kramatorsk sector, six Russian attacks near Vasyukivka, Stupochky, and Bila Hora were repelled by Ukrainian defenders.

In the Toretsk sector, three clashes are still ongoing. The Russians attacked seven times near Toretsk and in the direction of Dyliivka. Russian forces targeted Kostiantynivka in an air strike.

In the Pokrovsk sector, the Russian army made 23 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders out of positions near Vodyane Druhe, Novotoretske, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Dachenske, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novooleksandrivka, Andriivka, and Ulakly. Defense forces are holding back the Russian push, having repelled 21 attacks, with two clashes still ongoing. Russia’s losses are being clarified. Russia carried out aviation strikes on Myrolyubivka, Zvirove, and Pokrovsk.

In the Novopavlivka sector, Russian troops attacked four times near Kostiantynopil and Burlatske. Novopavlivka was hit by an airstrike.

In the Orikhiv sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled an attack near Piatykhatky.

In the Huliaipole and Prydniprovskyi sectors, the Russians did not conduct active offensive actions.

In the Kursk region, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled two attacks by Russian invaders during the day. Russian forces carried out 12 airstrikes, dropped 19 guided bombs, and fired over 200 times, including seven from multiple launch rocket systems.

In other sectors, the situation has not significantly changed.

  • Invading Russian army lost another 1,140 soldiers, as well as hundreds of units of equipment and weaponry on the Russian-Ukrainian front over the past day.
