'This may be the start of a breakthrough': expert on strike on Russian weapons depots near Kursk
Defense Express military expert Ivan Kyrychevskyi suggests that the Kursk episode could be the beginning of a breakthrough for Ukrainian Defense Forces in terms of their ability to launch mass strikes on Russian territory
He expressed his opinion on Espreso TV.
"There are no reports of drones in the Navy, so there is no way to bring 'kamikaze' boats to Kursk by land, so there is only one option left with Neptune. Of course, the very nature of the strike, i.e. where it was hit, can indicate the range, because it is only 100 km to the state border, but we do not know where the launcher could have been located. However, the General Staff made the first hint: the aiming points, which means that if there were several aiming points, there were several missiles. Secondly, if it was possible to record in real time that the missiles hit where they were aimed, and there were explosions and air defense activity, then perhaps we don't know something good about the capabilities of the Ukrainian Defense Forces to conduct independent reconnaissance against the enemy at least in the 100-kilometre border zone," explains Kyrychevskyi.
According to the expert, it would be a major breakthrough if the Ukrainian military recorded the effects of weapons in real time: "Even if we don't know exactly what burned down at the Russian base near Kursk, we have at least recorded the fact that the missile hit where it was aimed."
"If we talk about such political issues, it's not about what can or cannot be hit with Western missiles, for example, it's about providing the appropriate intelligence capabilities to identify the best target and then to see the results. Who knows, perhaps this pleasant episode in Kursk is the beginning of a breakthrough, even a seemingly insignificant one, when the Ukrainian Defense Forces have gained comprehensive capabilities to strike at the aggressor's territory, even if it is still a conditional one hundred kilometer sanitary zone from the Ukrainian state border. You know, a small step for the state and a big step for all of humanity will be in this situation," Kyrychevskyi concluded.
- On the night of July 31, the Ukrainian military attacked a storage facility for weapons and military equipment of the Russian military near Kursk. Russian air defense systems were operating near Kursk, and explosions were heard at targeting points. A Neptune-MD guided missile was also allegedly destroyed over the Kursk region.
