Ukrainian forces target Russia's major arms depot near Kursk

On the night of July 31, the Ukrainian military launched an attack on a weapons and equipment storage facility used by Russian forces near Kursk

It is noted that Russian air defense systems were operating near Kursk, and explosions were heard at targeting points. 

“Combat work was carried out by certain units from the forces and means of the Ukrainian Navy, in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces,” the General Staff said.

First, the governor of Kursk region, Andrey Smirnov, wrote on Telegram around 2 a.m.: "In the Kursk region, a fire broke out at one of the facilities after the attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. I am on the spot with representatives of the security forces. I am investigating the possible consequences and reasons for the lack of an alarm."

According to him, by morning, rescuers had localized the fire at the facility. No injuries were reported.

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry, as reported by RIA Novosti, highlighted the work of air defense forces and the destruction of 19 drones.

Specifically, 11 drones were destroyed or intercepted over the Belgorod region, 4 over the Bryansk region, and one UAV each over the Kursk, Kaluga, and Rostov regions, as well as the temporarily occupied Crimea.

Additionally, the Neptun-MD guided missile was reportedly destroyed over the Kursk region.

  • On the night of July 29, Russian air defense allegedly took down more than 40 drones across six regions. Notably, in the Oryol region, an electric substation was damaged as a result.
