Peace summit to produce Ukraine's common negotiating position to be sent to Russia - presidential office
The Peace Summit, which will take place on June 15-16 in Switzerland, will develop a joint negotiating position of Ukraine, which will be handed over to the top leadership of Russia
This was stated by the spokesman for the President of Ukraine, Serhiy Nikiforov.
DW asked him to comment on an interview with Vadym Skibitskyi, deputy head of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, in which he said that Ukraine would not be able to defeat Russia on the battlefield alone, and that negotiations were needed. He noted that Ukraine and Russia are now trying to take the "most favorable position" before potential talks, and that meaningful negotiations may not begin until the second half of 2025.
Commenting on this statement, Nikiforov said that the Peace Summit in Switzerland will develop a common negotiating position, which will be passed on to Russia.
In a comment to Ukrainian media, he clarified that the summit in Switzerland will focus on food security and freedom of navigation, which are the same issue.
