This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the IBRiS Centre for the Polish edition of Rzeczpospolita.

When asked whether Poland should negotiate with NATO and Ukraine to ensure air defense of Ukraine's border territory in order to be able to shoot down Russian missiles flying towards Poland, 37.6% of respondents said "definitely yes" and 31.7% said "rather yes".

Only 17.6% of respondents shared the opposite opinion. In particular, 9.1% answered "definitely not" and 8.5% answered "rather not". 13.1% have not decided on the matter.

The survey was conducted on January 26-27 by telephone (CATI) on a total of 1,070 respondents.

Russian missiles in Poland's airspace

On December 29, during the largest missile attack on Ukraine in 2023, a Russian missile violated Polish airspace. The missile stayed in Polish airspace for about three minutes and flew almost 40 km inland.

In April last year, the remains of a "military object" with an inscription in Russian were discovered in Poland.

In November 2022, during Russian attack on Ukraine, one of the missiles landed on the territory of Przewodów, Hrubieszów County of Lublin Voivodeship, killing two people. In September 2023, Polish experts have confirmed that the was fired by Ukraine, the Rzeczpospolita daily reported, citing sources. Polish Prosecutor's Office stated that the air-defense missile S-300, fired by the Ukrainian army, went out of control and hit Polish territory.
