Scholz’s tarnished reputation from Putin call could be restored with TAURUS supply to Ukraine
About German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's phone call to the Russian leader
I fully agree with the official Ukrainian position (from the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) that such a call was inappropriate and had negative consequences.
I would add: if the German Chancellor had reasons for this, especially ahead of elections in Germany, to strengthen the united stance of partners supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression - this move is blatantly weak. It will not stop the war but only prolong it and encourage Russian aggressors.
Because the Russian leader and his entourage have repeatedly shown that they only respect a strong position. They perceive weakness as encouragement for further aggressive actions.
How can the situation with tarnished reputation and toxic connections (even through just phone calls) with a war criminal be fixed?
There is a way: a change in Olaf Scholz's position on supplying Ukraine with TAURUS cruise missiles and delivering them by the end of the year.
This would be a smart move following the phone conversation. After all, high-precision TAURUS cruise missiles, used against military targets, such as Russian, North Korean, and Iranian weapon stockpiles, are more humane than killing hundreds or thousands of Russians.
Mr. Chancellor Olaf Scholz! You are an experienced politician. Be humane towards your phone call partner - provide Ukraine with TAURUS missiles at last!
