Chasiv Yar is well-defended but it faces powerful Russian assault, says military
Oles Malyarevych, deputy commander of the ACHILLES battalion of the 92nd brigade, highlighted that the Russians are advancing from Bohdanivka, Khromove, and partially from Ivanivske which is still under some Ukrainian control
He shared these insights on Espreso.
"Chasiv Yar is well-defended, but the enemy's attempts to seize the city are formidable. They're advancing from Bohdanivka, Khromove, and Ivanivske, which is partially under our control. Our defenders are holding strong near Bohdanivka. In the central area, Russian forces have made some advances near the canal's pipe sections, but any attempt to establish a foothold there results in destruction. It's a highly contested area," he remarked.
Malyarevych noted that Russia is deploying all available forces and resources, including aerial bombardment and continuous artillery fire. In response, Ukrainian forces are also retaliating with precision-guided fire.
"The enemy is also employing drones, infantry units with armored support. Sometimes, only infantry units are sent. For instance, a few nights ago, two occupants were spotted digging in the contested area. Despite being bombed twice, they continued digging, which raises questions if they were under the influence. It’s hard to believe that a sober person would not hide after that," Malyarevich added.
