Can long-range drones replace cruise missiles for Ukraine's army: aviation expert explains
Aviation expert Anatolii Khrapchynskyi believes that long-range UAVs have significantly improved Ukraine's ability to strike at strategic targets in Russia, but they won't completely replace cruise missiles
He expressed this opinion on the Espreso TV channel.
"Ukraine can indeed use long-range drones instead of cruise missiles. However, cruise missiles are also needed. Because some cruise missile models can operate on drones with a range of up to 3000 km. In addition, the missiles themselves can fly up to 3000 km. That is, we are talking about asymmetric actions on the enemy's territory at such a long distance," Khrapchynskyi explained.
The aviation expert noted that Ukraine has already created a whole line of UAVs that can fly at different distances.
"We were unable to use Western weapons on enemy territory. That's why Ukraine began developing the production of UAVs that can hit strategic targets in Russia at a distance of more than 2,500 kilometers and carry different types of payloads. Ukraine was able to develop a whole line of UAVs that can fly at different distances. This significantly improves our capabilities in this war," he added.
