Russia mines dams in Belgorod region - Kharkiv troops grouping
Russia has mined dams in the Belgorod region and is building defensive fortifications around the regional center
Vitalii Sarantsev, a spokesman for the Kharkiv operational tactical group, reports.
He said that the Russian forces are mining general and special-purpose waterworks and building defensive fortifications around Belgorod.
"This can be regarded as a "bookmark" for the future - if, for example, the situation changes dramatically and the Russians have to blow up dams to slow down the advance of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, or we can assume that Russia is preparing provocations at hydroelectric facilities in order to blame Ukraine for environmental and humanitarian consequences in the future," added the spokesman for the Kharkiv group.
According to Sarantsev, the Russian authorities can use such actions to distract the population from internal problems. At the same time, he emphasized that blowing up dams can cause large-scale floods, flooding of settlements and environmental disaster.
- On August 28, the Russian Federation began to move some of its reserves to the Belgorod region to use them in further assault operations.
