Russia reports shelling of Belgorod region, damaged industrial facilities and four wounded
On the afternoon of May 29, Russian authorities claim the Belgorod region was shelled. As a result, a chemical plant in Shebekino caught fire, and four workers suffered burns and carbon monoxide poisoning
It was reported by the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov.
“Several settlements in the Belgorod region are currently under fire by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In Shebekino, two industrial enterprises were targeted, leading to a fire in a production building where paint and varnish fluids were stored,” the message said.
Employees of the enterprise were injured in the incident, with men being admitted for respiratory tract burns and carbon monoxide poisoning. One individual is in critical condition and receiving intensive care, while the other three are in moderate condition.
The second enterprise did not sustain visible damage, and its employees were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Additionally, the shelling resulted in damage to power lines in the village of Nova Tavolzhanka, leaving Nova Tavolzhanka, Shamino, and Arkhangelskoye without electricity. In the village of Kozinka in the Grayvoron district, a hotel building caught fire.

On May 22, the Freedom of Russia Legion and the Russian Volunteer Corps announced that they had liberated the settlements of Kozinka and Gora-Podol in the Belgorod region as part of the creation of a demilitarized zone on the border with Russia, and that advanced units had entered Grayvoron. A counterterrorism operation was introduced in the region and nuclear munitions were evacuated.

On May 22, Russian media reported that administrative buildings in Belgorod had been hit by drones, including the FSB and the Interior Ministry, and that drones had also been used to strike administrative buildings in Grayvoron and Borisovka.
