Invading Russian forces have increased the use of FPV drones with fragmentation munitions, and the situation in the south remains difficult

Operational Command South's press center head Natalia Humeniuk reported this during the telethon.

"The situation remains tense because the Russian attacks do not stop and are massive, including daily attacks, which are constantly felt by residents of the right bank of the Dnipro. On the left bank, the Russian enemy is trying to use everything it can. The Russian forces have stepped up the use of drones, and the number of FPV drones has increased many times over. We can now record that the use of fragmentation munitions has increased up to 40 times. Previously, we recorded 12 or 17 such drops per day, but now we have recorded 36, and not all of them have been counted yet," said Humeniuk.

She also noted that the Russian forces have difficulties using artillery, so they are bringing in heavy equipment such as MLRS to harm the residents of the right bank as much as possible.

Natalia Humeniuk commented on the question of whether Kherson should prepare for attacks similar to those that Odesa and other Ukrainian cities have experienced this morning. According to her, there has been no critical change in the Russian tactics, and they are using massive and mixed attacks.

"We warned that, quite obviously, Russian enemy has launched massive attacks without waiting for the cold weather, as they say. Now there is still a sense of approaching New Year and preparations for the holidays even in such difficult conditions. They have decided to further oppress the population of Ukraine, which is an obvious way of terrorist influence, an obvious way of stirring up society," she said.

She added that Russia has now reduced the activity of tactical aviation in the south, but at the same time it is looking for a new and safe frontier to launch guided bombs.

  • On 29 December, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukrainian territory, conducting 158 airstrikes. The Ukrainian Air Defence Forces destroyed 87 missiles and 27 drones.
