Russia has no adequate missile defense system – Piontkovsky
Washington-based political scientist Andrey Piontkovsky believes that Russia has not been preparing for possible air attacks, because the alleged NATO threat was invented by the Kremlin to justify its aggression
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"Well, you saw how much panic was caused a month ago by the first mention of these long-range missiles by British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. We saw how almost all the generals and colonels themselves were dragging this Pantsir system, which, by the way, is incapable of stopping the attack of the same drones flying at the lowest possible altitude, to the roof of the General Staff of the Russian Army. They also dragged the same Pantsir to Luzhniki for a concert where their Fuhrer or his double visited. This is a colossal threat. Russia does not have an adequate missile defense system. Do you know why? Because they did not prepare for it. They were just shouting that there was some kind of threat from NATO, but they knew perfectly well that there was no threat. And the threat of NATO was their invented demagoguery for their aggression. They did not assume that Moscow or St. Petersburg could be attacked from the air. They have to actually create this system from scratch," the political scientist noted.
Andrey Piontkovsky noted, quoting the Ukrainian leadership, Western experts and politicians, that during the spring offensive there will be many unexpected and pleasant surprises.
