Russia feeds its people with ideas of war against NATO and prepares them for defeat - political analyst Mahda

Evhen Mahda, executive director of the Institute of World Politics, believes that Ukraine should in turn establish its own ideas on dismantling the Russian Federation as an aggressor country

He shared this opinion with Espreso TV during a broadcast.

"If we are to evaluate the military potential of NATO versus Russia, it can be assumed that the hostilities between NATO and the Russian Federation would end within a couple of months, given that the elite units of the Russian army were utterly crushed during the first months by Ukrainian forces alone, while we practically did not have any modern Western weapons. Therefore, Russia is simply trying to “sell” the fact that they are fighting with NATO to the population, essentially preparing them for defeat, saying that they don’t exclude this possibility,” he explained.

Evhen Mahda added that the Russian Federation should be already preparing for the trial of the main Russian war criminals.

"Ukraine in this situation must prepare its own ideas about the dismantling of the Russian Federation as an aggressor country. After all, why can't we insist on the right of self-determination of the peoples in Russia? This applies to the peoples of the North Caucasus, and the Tatars and Bashkirs — they seem quite ready for this. I think that in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) the local elites are ready to export diamonds without reporting to a federal center management. They just need the appropriate conditions that can be brought about by the military defeat of the Putin’s regime, and they cannot do it on their own, so we have to make our stance on how it should be implemented in order to achieve appropriate results," Mahda said.

  ▪ On January 9, the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Patrushev, claimed that Russia is fighting against NATO in Ukraine

  ▪ On January 26, the Institute for the Study of War noted that the Russian Federation downplays the significance of Western tanks supply in Ukraine
